boarding in Genoa from minute one

It started off great with a short flight to Genoa followed by a quick transfer to the port. And then suddenly there is that gigantic ship: the MSC Fantasia. A floating hotel? No way, this is a complete resort. With everything you need. Swimming pools, spa, shops, restaurants, bars, a casino and yes, even an F1 simulator. After a short safety drill, a tour of the ship follows, including a look behind the scenes in the kitchen. Super cool to see how everything runs like a well-oiled machine. Then the iconic ship’s horn sounds: we have left. First a drink in the atmospheric Manhattan Bar, then a dinner with a view of the sea. And dessert? A cracking Flower Power Party of course. With hippie outfits, bad disco hits and dancing until your heels say stop. A great start to the cruise.

croissants, cannes and chic vibes

Waking up in Cannes? Absolutely no punishment. Breakfast in your cabin, arranged by your own butler. Now that’s luxury. And then that view from the balcony of the coast and the harbor? Insane! With the tender boat to shore, hop on that e-bike and cruise through the city. Past the famous film festival building, over the boulevard and of course a peek through the windows of the chic designer shops. Back on board in the evening, everything falls into place again: drinks in the Manhattan bar, extensive dinner, and then the gala. Everyone dressed up, I take some selfies on the glittering Swarovski stairs and then time for delicious cocktails … Really one of those evenings that you will remember forever. Later, on the balcony … it is misty, spooky, quiet, in the middle of the sea. Only the soft sound of the water. Magical moment …

spanish charm in palma

Palma de Mallorca then. An afternoon all to myself. No strict planning, just wandering around the narrow streets of the old city. Here a boutique, there a coffee on a sunny terrace. Of course a stop at the cathedral La Seu, because wow … what a picture. With that view of the sea? Great! And then those tapas in between: olives, manchego, pan con tomate … so delicious. Everything feels relaxed, sunny, completely laid-back. Back on board the preparations for the White Party begin. Yes, everyone in white, the music on deck, cozy lights and again cocktails … Dancing under the stars and pulling out all the stops one more time. An epic last evening.

barcelona as last stop

An early morning out of bed for the last breakfast on board. Enjoying a little more before the adventure really comes to an end. But luckily Barcelona is the grand finale! A city tour along Gaudí’s masterpieces, strolling along the Ramblas and getting lost in those colorful, lively streets. Quick, but super fun to take in the city like that. And bonus: a quick look inside a glassblowing studio, fascinating to see. But then it’s time … off to the airport. With a suitcase full of stuff and a head full of memories I get back on the plane home.

4 days, but feels longer

It was 4 days, but it really felt like a mini-sabbatical. You’re in that cruise bubble so quickly. Everything is arranged, you don’t have to think about anything. And then you’re in a different place every day. Luxurious, relaxed and surprisingly fun. I would do it again. Only next time for 8 days or longer …
